Vasikkasaari offers views of Suomenlinna fortress island and Helsinki’s marine silhouette.
As an archipelago environment, Vasikkasaari nature is delicate and generally barren with relatively poor plant nutrients. In the middle of the island, you will find an overgrown pond which is surrounded by the remains of an old stone wall referred to as “the Great Wall of China”. There are also many other reminders of the bygone days on the island.

Making a fire is not permitted.
The City of Helsinki rules and regulations do not permit camping on Vasikkasaari.
Dogs and other pets must be kept on a leash.

Destination information
On the eastern side of the island, you will find a guest harbour with mooring arms. The main jetty’s buoy moorings and mooring arms are not available for visiting boats.
Vasikkasaari features approximately 50 summer cabins, and the inhabitants’ privacy must be respected.
Vasikkasaari has two guided routes: the main route introducing the island’s historical sites and the wellness trail to the west of the island.

Routes
The Spirit of History route, 1 km:
The route travels mainly around the central part of the island and introduces the historically significant sights and the island’s best views.
The ‘A Moment to Yourself’ wellness trail, 1 km:
The wellness trail is located in the western part of Vasikkasaari and follows the island’s coastline. The trail is narrow and includes some small climbs.
Accessibility
Vasikkasaari is not an accessible destination. The trails on the island are narrow and in parts rocky.
Additional information
Vasikkasaari is connected on its north edge to Saunasaari where an entrepreneur runs a private sauna business.
