Arrival instructions
When driving along the Helsinki-Hanko road, take the left turning in Karjaa onto road number 1102 (signposted for Snappertuna-Raseborg). After approximately 4 kilometres, turn right onto road number 1050 and continue for 3 kilometres. Next, turn left along the road towards Sandnäsudd and Rösund and drive toward Sandnäsudd. When you reach the end of the road there is a signpost indicating a left turn to Långösund.
The Långön recreation area is located on the southern side of Tammisaari and consists of two parts — Långösund on the mainland and area on Långön island. After arriving Långösund you can follow a narrow track to the beach along the strait. To strait needs to be crossed by boat in order to reach Långön island. Rowing boats can be hired.
The habitat in Långön is diverse and popular with berry pickers and hikers alike. The island’s beaches are made up of glaciated rock in several places and the southern end of the island opens out from the bare rock onto the beautiful landscape of the inner archipelago.
You are allowed to build a fire in the campfire site intended for the purpose in the map. When a wildfire warning is in force it is forbidden to make a fire also in the campfire site.
Dogs and other pets must be kept on a leash.

Destination information
Visitors wishing to cross the strait between the two visitor areas can hire rowing boats from the nearby shop and summer café. The shop and cafe are open daily during summertime. The boats are stored in the Uuvi area on the Långösund strait. There are several easy to find landing places for boats. There are landing places for visitors with larger boats, where the water depth is several metres. These can be found on the eastern side of the island and at the island’s southwestern point.
Långösund has a beautiful beach on the narrow strait and there is a campfire site, too. The glaciated rocks also provide nice place to enjoy a sunny day admiring the stunning landscape.
There is no winter maintenance on the area.
Accessibility
There are no unobstructed services in the Uuvi recreation area. Långösund and Långön are also very hilly.
