Destination information

Malkasaari is suitable for those traveling with many types of watercraft. Its shores are open and rocky, but also have sandy bottoms. Paddlers and SUP boarders will find good landing spots, the best of which are located on the northern side of the island. For boaters, landing is made easier by a pier and about ten buoy spots on the north side. There is also a sandy beach on the island suitable for swimming.

The island’s nature consists of park-like forest, which is also home to many species of bats. There are many pleasant spots for enjoying a picnic, which can be found by following the approximately one-kilometer-long trail that circles the island.

The island previously had two villas, one of which has been demolished and the other closed. Garden plants and a small wood-burning sauna, which will open to visitors in summer 2026, serve as reminders of the villa era. The island’s cooking shelter is built on the stone foundation of the demolished villa. There is also one open campfire site on the island. If you wish to make a fire, you must bring your own firewood, as there is no firewood supply in the area. Taking wood from the island’s nature for fires is prohibited.

To prevent soil erosion, it is recommended to use the established paths.
