Destination information

Malkasaari is suitable for those traveling with many types of watercraft. Its shores are open and rocky, but also have sandy bottoms. Paddlers and SUP boarders will find good landing spots, the best of which are located on the northern side of the island. For boaters, landing is made easier by a pier and about ten buoy spots on the north side. Not having your own boat is no problem, as there is a connecting ferry service to the island from June to August.

The island was once home to a couple of villas, one of which has since been demolished while the other remains in private use. A cooking shelter has been built upon the stone foundation of the demolished villa for the enjoyment of hikers. A small wood-heated sauna adds to the island’s unique atmosphere and will be available for booking starting in July 2026.

A trail approximately one kilometer long circles the island, offering many pleasant spots to stop and enjoy a picnic. The island’s nature consists of park-like woodland, which also serves as a habitat for several species of bats. You can take a refreshing dip in the water from the island’s sandy beaches. To prevent soil erosion, visitors are encouraged to stick to the well-trodden paths.

Accessibility
