Nuuksio National Park is an excellent choice for day trips as well as tent camping. The area is loved by many and in the Finnish capital the word “hiking” is often synonymous with Nuuksio. There is a long history of hiking in Nuuksio and the many lakes, ponds, old-growth forests, verdant valleys, meadows, bogs and crags will tempt visitors to come and enjoy the changing seasons again and again. The green glow of the moss in November, the crackling of a campfire in January, the call of the black-throated diver in May and the shade of the forest in August are all there just a stone’s throw from Helsinki. In Nuuksio the hiker will return to their favourite spots time and again while finding something new each time.

Destination information
Nuuksio National Park stretches between three municipalities: Espoo, Kirkkonummi and Vihti. The Park belongs to the wider Nuuksio Lakes area and is connected to many other recreational areas.
Nuuksio is a very popular destination especially on weekends between May and September, so the roads leading to the park are often crowded. Parking by the side of the road is strictly forbidden as it can prevent emergency vehicles from entering the park. If arriving by car, it is best to park at the Haltia, Högbacka, Kattila, Kurjolampi, Salmi or Siikaniemi parking areas. From Haltia you can hike to Haukkalampi. Parking is only allowed at designated parking areas. All parking areas can be found on the map above.
It is easy to get to Nuuksio via public transport. The bus stops and links to the public transport route planner are marked on the map.
You are free to hike, ski, row and paddle in the National Park except in the restriction zones, which are marked on the map. Cycling is only allowed on designated cycling trails. Cyclists should mind other trail users and choose a speed that will not put others in danger.
National Parks are nature conservation areas, so it is important to familiarise yourself with the rules and restrictions before visiting.
